APRIL 14 2018 – The fortress on the silver sea

An easy, panoramic hike along a cliffside path. We’ll go up to Forte Filippo, a Spanish Fortress overlooking the sea and then down, to the picturesque town of Porto Ercole. Porto Ercole once belonged to the State of the Presidi, a small state lasted less than 200 years, and the fortresses were the strategic defense of the promontory of Monte Argentario. From up there we’ll enjoy the scent of Mediterranean bloomings, and a 360-degree view on the lagoon of Orbetello and the Silver Sea

APRIL 15 2018 – Where history meets nature: Vulci

An amazing journey to the last Etruscan metropolis – a wide and powerful town of the PreRoman Age. Here once stood temples, gates, shops: today a flourishing grassland surrounds the stunning remnants of the past. Enjoy the natural beauty where the most skillful and educated culture in Italy used to live. We’ll walk by the River Fiora, and the pond – known as Lago del Pellicone, were many famous films were shot. We’ll walk among grazing cows and horses, along ancient Roman roads, to the Etruscan tombs. Half a day to discover the place where History and Nature are blended, in an invaluable archaeological natural park.

MAY 5 2018 – Maremma Park: nature on stage!

A day hike in the pristine Nature of a Natural Preserve. A stretch of Mediterranean sea, white calcareous rocks hanging over the waves. All along the seaside, naked trunks protect the shoreline, preventing the sea to wash it away. The dunes still form naturally, here, and they protect an ancient and precious environment: marshland and scented woods. We’ll hike on the top of the Uccellina Mountains, to find out about the defensive towers, built as a defense against pirates and corsairs. Here, where the wildlife thrives, the cattle are raised into the wild. The Maremmana cows are still today herded by the „butteri”, the mounted herdsmen of the region, who in past times challenged Buffalo Bill himself. Guess who was defeated? History, Nature, Mystery… and a pinch of Adventure!

MAY 6 2018 – Rusellae, the city by the ghost lake

Discover the ancient town of Rusellae. The impressive remains lie on the shore of the ancient lake Prile – a lake now drained, which once occupied the flatland where now Grosseto is located. Rusellae overlooked a huge salty lake that – together with several wetlands – was one of the distinguishing features of this part of Italy, from Grosseto to Latina not so long time ago, known as Maremma. Here. the sea met the countryside and they blended, creating a unique environment, today almost disappeared. The ancient and powerful Etruscan town dominated this fertile, fruitful land.

MAY 12 2018 – Maremmagic!

A beautiful, quiet walk along the Lagoon of Orbetello, one of the most important lagoons in the Maremma region, relishing the view of Monte Argentario. The lagoon of Orbetello sees the concentration of thousands of birds. The WWF Oasis of Orbetello one of the most famous WWF Oases and it is the most important lagoon of the Tyrrhenian sea. With this walk you will find out about wetland systems’ rich biodiversity, enjoying a lovely and relaxing stroll along protected woodlands and by the coastline.

MAY 13 2018 – Pitigliano and its mysteries

A walk back in time: from the Middle Ages back to the Etruscans, the Pre Roman civilization that once lived here. We’ll go through the medieval maze of alleys, then down into the surprising Etruscan ‚vie cave’, incredible hollow paths which were carved 25 centuries ago by Etruscan manpower. Not just simple roads, but a link between the city and the temples and cemeteries, dug by the most skillful and mysterious civilization who has ever lived in Italy. History, Nature, Mystery… and a pinch of Adventure!

A walk to discover a place founded and destroyed long, long time ago, when Rome had just started to become the world’s biggest power and built this colony. The history of Cosa begun a long time ago, and now Mother Nature has regained this forgotten territory: a unique place, featuring stunning landscapes on the Argentario and its coastline and mysterious tales: the Skeleton home, the ancient Etruscan temple hidden under the Roman one, the impressive cyclopean walls, the treasure left behind during the escape… History, Nature, Mystery… and a pinch of Adventure!

MAY 20 2018 – Sorano and the secrets of the vie cave

Sorano is an astonishing medieval village, perched on the tufa cliff over the river Lente. We will walk along this lovely village, overlooked by the Masso Leopoldino and the Orsini Fortress, and we will discover its history back to the Neolithic. We’ll go down, towards the river Lente and venture into the ‚Vie Cave’, the Etruscan roads cut into the rock over twenty-five centuries ago. Here the wildlife will tell us about a place far from the modern city chaos… and take us back, to the time following the steps of the Etruscans, the most powerful and wealthy civilization of ancient Italy.

MAY 26 2018 – Argentario, among pirates and corsairs

A lonely tower, overlooking the cobalt blue sea, surrounded by white rocks and Mediterranean scents. It defends the coastline by the attacks of the pirates and corsairs who have sailed the Tyrrhenian for over five hundred years. The stones of Capo d’Uomo will tell us the ancient tale of the legendary Khayr al-DīnHayreddin Barbarossa, the Ottoman admiral who kidnapped Bella Marsilia and took her to join the harem of Suleiman the Magnificent, sultan of the Ottoman Empire. History, Nature, Mystery… and a pinch of Adventure!

MAY 27 2018 – Sovana, from the etruscans to the midlle ages

Sovana, during the pre-Roman age, was a lively and powerful town. During the Etruscan age, its inhabitants built huge monuments as sepulchres for their eternal sleep, with necropolises finely carved out of the tufa rock: we will discover the tombs, and the mysterious Vie Cave, the hollow roads cut out of the rock thousands of years ago to connect the city of the living with the city of the dead. In the Middle Ages, it became an eminent town, just to be abandoned and forgotten. Echoes of the ancient Suana can still be seen today in its Etruscan necropolises and in the perfectly preserved medieval city center.

SEPTEMBER 22 2018 – Magliano: the thousands-years-old walls and trees

A walk with giant footsteps… to discover a unique and ancient territory In Magliano, everything seems to be thousands-year-old : more than 1,000 years is the age of the white curtain of walls surrounding the town; 2,500 years ago date the most important civilization that inhabited this lands, the Etruscans. And the „Magliano Disc”, which is one of the longest Etruscan text ever found, dates back to almost 25 centuries ago. 3,000 years – that’s how old is supposed to be the Witch Olive Tree – a real green monument, hidden in a small churchyard. History, Nature, Mystery… and a pinch of Adventure!
